A wealth of experience
WI & A Gilbert is a family-founded civil engineering and facilities management company, built on the principles of quality, safety, environmental and client care. Our dedicated team of skilled professionals work seamlessly together to deliver projects of every scale.
The company began in 1960 as J&W Gilbert, a partnership between the current owner’s grandfather (James) and father (William) and carried out highway related works for Ayrshire County Council and, from 1975, Strathclyde Regional Council. The company transitioned to WI&A Gilbert in 1979, with the passing of James Gilbert, but continued to work with Strathclyde Regional Council and its various successor unitary councils which came into being in 1996. The company again transitioned to WI&A Gilbert Ltd in 2003, in conjunction with the next generation taking on management responsibility.
We pride ourselves on maintaining the agility of a local business while bringing the professionalism and reliability expected of a national contractor. This balance allows us to deliver a personalised, hands-on service where every client receives attention to detail, responsive communication, and solutions tailored to their needs.
